The G1006 hip waders have a cleated sole and the G1009 has a felt sole. The cleated sole is ideal for boating and walking to the water. However, it can be slippery on silt covered rocks. In the water, the felt sole is undoubtedly the most efficient. It has the advantage of having a good grip on slippery surfaces. These soles will give you all the stability you need for a good fishing trip. However, it wears out faster than the traction sole and is not suitable for long walks.
